Greek Revival Refuge

LANDSCAPE DESIGN

This 1875 Greek Revival home has a small carriage house on the same lot. The landscape design centers on a patio and pergola that help unify the yard, while providing an outdoor seating area. The cedar pergola has climbing vines to provide shade and floral interest in the summer, while lights under the pergola brighten the bluestone patio seating area.

The small yard is separated from the street by a row of Acer rubra, a privet hedge, a low fence, and shrub roses at the sidewalk edge. This layered edge treatment creates a good sense of privacy. A raised garden bed is used for vegetables and cut flowers. A small bike shed and separate brick patio are used by the carriage house residents.
